Greetings and Salutations unto Their Most Sylvan Majesties of these fair lands, Andrew and Alexandra,

In order that the art of cookery be furthered in this realm, we the undersigned wish to found a Kingdom of Æthelmearc Cooks Guild.

Mission Statement:
The purpose of this Guild shall be to promote, encourage, and disseminate enjoyment and development of historically accurate Medieval and Renaissance cooking, feast service, and related food topics to the populace of the Kingdom of Æthelmearc.

Implementation:
The Guild will accomplish the above goals through the sharing of knowledge, ideas, enthusiasm, resources, techniques, and (wo)manpower to cooks and those wishing to learn how to cook. Emphasis will be placed on promoting period cooking, but support will be offered to all cooks who request help. The structure of the Guild shall easily accommodate any number of members, and will not be so rigid as to be difficult to maintain membership.

Members:
Membership is not limited or restricted, and any gentle may join the Guild simply by participating. There shall be no required dues or other criterion for membership, other than an interest in cooking, baking, and other related activities, which may include growing period plants, making period beverages, creating subtleties, building period baking structures, overseeing animal husbandry, etc. Members may organize themselves locally in whatever manner they see fit, other than the use of apprentice/ journeyman/ master titles or structure (which is not supported or desired by this Guild).

Guild Master/Mistress:
The Guild Master/Mistress (GM) will maintain a rough organizational structure and shall be willing to moderate a listserv and other information/communication methods. The GM may also organize or delegate resources as needed in response for requests from the general populace or from event cooks for research aid, feast help, and other cooking activities.

The GM may propose and/or facilitate special projects for members and the Guild as a whole, shall facilitate discussions related to historical cooking, and shall promote the art of Historical Cooking and related studies throughout the Kingdom in any appropriate medium. The position of GM is not a permanent one, and the term length of this office will be decided at a future date.

A listserv that the Guild can use is currently available at sca-aethelmearc-cooks@yahoogroups.com. Class papers, feast menus, surveys, etc. may be archived for use by the general populace at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sca-aethelmearc-cooks/files/homepage/index.html, in the hopes that a link off the Kingdom's webpage may be added at a future date.

Therefore, we humbly request that Your Majesties do hereby charter and recognize the Kingdom of Æthelmearc Cooks Guild to further the research, teaching, and preparation of food and eating customs with the time period covered by the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc.
